Band roles
Describe what each person does in the band, whether that is vocals, guitar, sound, lighting, or more than one part.
A role is what someone does
A band role can be an instrument, a voice, or a non-playing job such as sound. A person can hold several roles, and several people can hold the same role. These are not the owner and leader permissions shown elsewhere on the member list.
Set up the band
On Members, the leader manages the role list and assigns roles to members, including people who have not joined yet. A joined member can also change their own roles. The role name matters most; its icon and colour make it easier to spot across the app.
Then decide for each song
Holding a band role makes a musician available for that part on songs. It does not force them to take it on every song. Song roles let the band choose which parts are needed and which musicians take them.
Default layer type is not an assignment
The optional default layer type records a preferred format. For familiar roles, Wewamo may preselect a suitable type, such as lyrics for vocals or drums for a drum-kit role. Other roles stay unset. A leader can change or clear the choice. It does not assign arrangement layers or change what anyone sees while reading a song.
Icons and colour families
A role describes a performance responsibility, including playing, singing, show calling, sound, lights and visual cues. The icon shows the activity; its colour family helps you recognise related work. Several people can hold the same role and receive stable shades within that family. Names and icons remain visible because colour alone is not enough to identify a part.
When a leader creates a role, Wewamo may suggest an icon and colour family. If no suitable suggestion is available, the role starts neutral. The leader can change either choice. Renaming a role does not change its appearance, and visual choices never grant permissions or assign song layers.
Available icons
These are the icons a leader can choose for a role. Similar jobs can share a colour family while keeping different icons.

Available colour families
Each family has matching light and dark colours. The shades identify people within a role, while the role name and icon always remain the main cues. These are Wewamo choices, not a universal mixer standard.
