Roles for a song

See which roles a song needs and who takes each one, then adjust your own part or the full band setup.

Start with all band roles

Before anyone changes a song's role setup, every band role is needed and every musician who holds it is selected. In All roles, you can remove roles this song does not need and adjust the musicians for each remaining role.

My roles are quick to change

The song page opens on My roles. Select one of your role chips to turn your part on or off for this song. In All roles, anyone in the band can review everyone's parts and open the full editor. A needed role can have several musicians or no one assigned; no one assigned is shown clearly.

Your view in song lists

Preparing, In rehearsal, and Gig-ready show your own roles for each song. An active role is coloured; an inactive one is muted. Songs with no active role for you are dimmed and remain accessible. Use Songs with my role to show only songs with an active part for you. Suggestions focuses on choosing material before assigning roles; Archive preserves retired songs with a dimmed appearance. On narrow rows, role names become icons with the full role and status available as a hint.

Roles and arrangement layers are different

A role says who takes a part; an arrangement layer contains reading material such as lyrics, chords, or drum notes. Today, changing a song role does not create, remove, or automatically filter layers. Role-based layer assignment is not available yet, so manage visible layers separately.
